West Cork – a place apart

The Lonely Planet Guide recently declared that everything you could want from Ireland can be found in Cork. If so then West Cork’s Wild Atlantic Way is a place apart with its colourful towns, stunning coast, castles, gourmet restaurants, lively pubs and most of all its friendly people!

West Cork is both the southernmost and most south westerly point in Ireland. It was in this area that Star Wars filmed last summer no doubt charmed by the areas scenic views. Food lovers will be pleased to know that West Cork has more artisan food producers than any other part of Ireland such as Gubbeen cheese, Glenilen dairy, Union Hall fish amongst others who benefit from the rich sea and fertile land here. There are many great eateries all the way from bustling Clonakilty to the wild Beara peninsula. Deasys restaurant in the idylicc  fishing village of Ring, Clonakilty or the sea fronted location of Dunmore house hotel and restaurant are just two of the many fine examples where only the freshest locally sourced fish, dairy, meat and vegetables grace your plate.
